[HHN23] La Llorona Screams into Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights [Updated!]

Time to kick off what's become known as #HHNRevealWeek, each night we get a new announcement and they've started off with a big one here...

After two extremely successful years at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood, La Llorona is making it's way to the East Coast for this year's HHN at Universal Orlando. Be prepared to hear the screams of "Ay, mis hijos!" echoing through the park.

So, with that...let's welcome the "Weeping Woman" to the East Coast!

Don't fret though, this is not a carbon copy of the maze that was seen at Universal Hollywood, this is an all new adaptation that will take those brave enough into all new levels of the watery hell that she calls home. Her lair deep beneath the murky waters will be awaiting everyone who dares to enter.

According to Mike Aiello, HHN's creative director, the maze will live in "two worlds. Our reality and La Llorona's murky hell." Continuing on he said, "This maze will involve water effects, video projection and aesthetically it's just gorgeous to look at..."

Definitely going to be interesting to see what the differences are and how fresh the team at Universal Orlando can out do the ones that were considered some of the very best at past HHN events out in Hollywood.

For those not familiar with the legend here's the rundown from Wikipedia:
Costume rending for inside the maze this year!
The basic story tells of a beautiful woman by the name of Maria who drowns her children in order to be with the man that she loved. The man would not have her, which devastated her. She would not take no for an answer, so she drowned herself in a lake in Mexico City. Challenged at the gates of heaven as to the whereabouts of her children, she is not permitted to enter the afterlife until she has found them. Maria is forced to wander the Earth for all eternity, searching in vain for her drowned offspring, with her constant weeping giving her the name "La Llorona". She is trapped in between the living world and the spirit world.

Turns out the folks on Facebook weren't that far off at all as we were clued in to the possibility of this happening in a post earlier in the evening.

We'll have more information as it becomes available so stay tuned!
