[HHN3]/The 3 Sisters Set to Terrify Universal Singapore

Continuing with our "Haunts Around the World" series of articles, this time we find ourselves back in Asia for Universal Singapore's Halloween Horror Nights 3. This year's event is promising to come back with a vengeance, including three times the terror!

Sure, this is only their third year for the event and it's definitely smaller than it's counter parts in Hollywood and Orlando...it's definitely got originality going for it.

So, let's get into just what the folks in Singapore can expect from this year's event which runs select Friday's and Saturdays in October starting on the 11th and also November 1st thru 3rd from 7pm til 1am.

This year's theme revolves around three delightfully evil sisters. The Maiden of the Opera, The Crone of the Forest and last, but not least, the Daughter of the Undead. Have to say, the idea behind this is great and the website even has interactive games attached to each of them in order for visitors to unlock the back stories for each. Taking a cue from other parks, they also get their own videos, scare zones and mazes as well. All in all, this looks like an event up to the same caliber of it's US cousins.

Before that though, here's the trailer for this year's event from Universal Singapore's YouTube channel:

Now that that's out of the way....let's meet the sisters, shall we?

UPDATE: The 3rd daughter has her video out finally!

Gotta say it again, they've definitely got the originality machine going at full steam with these three and they're definitely not sugar coating just how evil they are. It's pretty refreshing to see, but as most of us who watch Asian horror know, they're not wont to do that very often anyways.

Now, I mentioned earlier that this event is much smaller than the ones in the US and that's due to the fact that they only have three mazes and three scare zones as well as spot at the front of the park for the sisters. The entrance meet reminds me of what Universal Orlando did with HHN 13 and the "Port of Evil". Not sure if it will be exactly the same, but I have a feeling that it will be similar in nature given the placement of it.

The other interesting thing to note is that everything seems to be to the right after entering the park. They've pretty much left the entire left side of things empty. I'm not sure of why they've done this, but it is a curious move.

As for the houses and scare zones? Well, we've got ya covered there as well! Here's all the gory details about each. First up? The houses...and home to one of our sisters...

House No. 13 for Sale! Some say that the occupants of this crumbling mansion are recluses, but the horrific truth is they are imprisoned here by Evil Spirits. Their dream home is just a memory. Enter if you dare – but brace yourself for a house-viewing like no other as the tables have turned!

A starlet's songs of vengeance turn into a spine-chilling requiem for her troupe. Step into the once flourishing Chinese Opera Academy and re-live the bloody massacre by a vindictive prima donna – The Maiden of the Opera.

A storm-battered ship is found mysteriously adrift after being lost at sea since 1910. The crew has vanished yet an unexplained presence lingers. On a ship once thought to have disappeared in the dark depths of the ocean, the past is never truly dead.

So, there are the three houses that are going to be set on full tilt to terrify guests. What about the rest of the park? Well, as I said only one side of the park is being utilized for this event, but they are cramming the three mazes above and the following scare zones into that space!

Witness the magical and the unimaginable as witches, wizards, and practitioners of the dark arts gather at the world's 366th Annual Convention of Curses. You will be mesmerized by their ghastly rituals. Stare if you must, but mind your manners- lest you invite the casting of a curse on you!

The Villagers say that only fools venture through these woods after sunset. Here on the outskirts of town lies the land of the forsaken and the forgotten – the kingdom of the Crone. A grand dame of black magic, she eternally prowls the night for unsuspecting souls to whet her insatiable appetite. Tread swiftly for the dark shadows are vicious, and morning is only a fool's dream.

Once a charming town, Whittemore is now a graveyard of pale, fang-bearing living dead. The Daughter of the Undead has turned the town's rosy-cheeked residents into blood-thirsty Vampires. Hurry through the streets of Whittemore, but never look anyone in the eye!

So, there ya have it. The full line up for this year's Halloween Horror Nights 3 at Universal Studios Singapore! Afraid that it could be too much to handle? Well, the park has you covered there as well. In each section of the park there will be a "chill out zone" where you can take a break from the onslaught of terror that's going on. Food, drink and even live music will be featured in each of these areas as well. These "safe zones" are definitely different than what we get in the US and I have to say, kind of a nice treat for some. Personally, I say let the terror flow everywhere for these kinds of events, but hey...something for everyone isn't bad either, right?

Where will we go next for our Haunts Around the World series? Who knows! Stay tuned to find out what terror lurks in the shadows around the world.
