[Haunts] Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare: Music, Movies, Terror and Insanity on a New Level

Not content with having just one house within Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Hollywood, Rob Zombie has struck out on his own. Doing so he's created the mother load of all haunted house/music combinations.

The only other place I can think of that's close is House of Shock down in New Orleans, but this is a whole new level.

Starting this October 10th and running Thurs-Sun until Nov 2nd, Rob Zombie and his cast of homicidal misfits are set to take over the Pomona Fairplex and turn it into a music festival of horrors. Movies, take a stroll down "Bloody Blvd", take in some music and more...this place is going to be completely insane.

How much so? The concert line up alone is worth the price of admission, with a different national act performing each night of operation. Like who you ask? Good question, here's a small sampling; Blood on the Dance Floor, Twiztid, DJ Bl3nd, The Vandals, Emilie Autumn, Vampires Everywhere, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, Powerman 5000,  and then you have Andrew W.K. and of course...Rob Zombie.

Yeah, that's a helluva list there and to think you get it on top of the three attractions based on Zombie's own movies. It's like a perfect storm of music and chaos, much like I imagine Thursday mornings are around the Zombie household. What in the hell are they thinking?! Whatever it is, I like it! The folks of Pomona and the Fairplex will never be the same after this one.

Don't believe me yet? Here's the official video announcement:

Yeah...wow, just wow.

So, what can you expect out of the event in the scare department? Look no further, I got ya covered...

This terrifying attraction pays homage to the 10-year anniversary of the film directed by Rob Zombie and is listed as being an "extreme, traditional haunted house" where guests will walk through a recreation of all the insane moments from the movie.

The "Museum of Monsters & Mayhem" includes an expanded "Murder Ride" where you'll confront notorious serial killers along the way.

Now, doesn't that last one just sound like fun? Who doesn't want to take that ride for real...well, okay, I can think of a few people who wouldn't but either way...it should be entertaining as hell no matter how you come out the other side.

"This harrowing attraction, based on Zombie's 2012 The Lords of Salem, is designed to twist the mind. It will accentuate some senses while limiting others.

Fear of the dark, claustrophobia, and fear of the unknown will be preyed on as the visitor attempts to traverse this sixty-degree maze."

Okay, wait a minute. What's this sixty-degree thing about, they put it inside a giant refrigerator or something? That'd be something to see for sure! Either way, it sadly sounds like most other black out houses that are out there already...hopefully it's more than that though. I mean after the first house, how do have something so common?

Last but not least...even more insanity...

Using Chromadepth glasses, guests will be taken right into the middle of the irreverent world of Rob Zombi's El Superbeasto 2009 exploitation musical horror comedy film that's based on comic series of the same name.

The attraction's unique surprise entrance, brilliant colors, sudden chills and starting thrills and salacious humor will make you scream with fright and laughter.

Okay, that has to be one of the best ideas for a 3D attraction that I've seen yet. I mean talk about an acid trip down horror lane for that one, it's going to be one helluva ride for anyone that stumbles into that technicolor nightmare world.

So, you're probably wondering to yourself how much this costs or how many sacrificial goats you're going to have to do away with in the line. Surprisingly enough, it's only $30 on Sundays/Thursdays and only $35 on Friday/Saturdays. Yes, you got that right. 3 haunts plus live music by nationally recognized bands for under $40. There's no way you can beat that, not that I've seen so far anyway.

That's not all though, assuming this place is going to get packed because it likely will, they've even come up with a way around that as well. The ticketing system they're using makes up a unique symbol that will be displayed on TV screens all over the complex. The trick is, it corresponds to symbols on your ticket as well. So, you see it on the screens and then you head to the lines where they promise a 30min or less wait will be there to greet you.

Of course, you can skip all this line business and just go with the VIP tickets...no clue how much they cost since there's no info on the site about them but they're there somewhere I'm sure...

And there ya have it...a glance at everything going on with Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare at the Pomona Fairplex. For more info head on over to the official website for hours, directions and a ton of other insanity as only Rob Zombie can bring.
