[Anime] Strike Witches Season 3 and OVA Confirmed!

As I spent a good bit of the weekend sick and in bed, I noticed something happen starting yesterday...my stream on Google+ and Twitter both went off with seemingly everyone telling me that Strike Witches was coming back for another season and an O.V.A.

I can't say that I'm overly surprised by this, but it's definitely interesting to see that they've brought the whole gang back for another mission against the Neuroi.

All the confirmation one needs for this is none other than the official Strike Witches website...

I mean if those two screen shots, coupled with the one at the top of this article don't scream that this is happening then you're lost and confused. I can't help with that unfortunately. I could recommend a few things but they probably wouldn't help much either if you're in that much denial. Then again, if you're reading this then you're already not in that much denial so good on ya!

That said, not much is overly known about the whole plot of where things are going other than the fact that we'll be joining up with the 501st once again. If there are any other Strike Witch squadrons in the mix, that remains to be seen. However, the fact that many were shown during the movie which came out in 2012 shows that there's a lot of material the creative staff at AIC isn't afraid to go into that territory either. To be fair neither was Gonzo as they made appearances, but AIC just did more.

Granted, we don't know who the studio or staff behind this next couple of offerings will be...could be someone entirely new and they could have a whole knew spin on things. Though, I can't think of too many that would take it on with their current work loads. So, that's going to be interesting to find out as well.

The only things are known is that the OVA has something to do with Operation Victory Arrow (cute spin on the OVA thing there guys) and something to do with Tactics of Vanadis Attack (TV Anime...again, cute). The first one...well, pretty obvious what's going on there but the second? I don't recall any place being named Vanadis in the previous two seasons or the movie. Though, it's highly possible it was mentioned there or in some other source material. Then again, these could just be something random or have more to them outside of obscenely obvious abbreviation hints...

Personally I'm hoping that they do a bit more than they did in the movie as they did seem to be a fan service with their inclusion. You know, the whole "Let's just toss 'em in there cause the fans have been wanting to see them for a while now" kind of thing. It worked, it was awesome to see to them, even if just for a little bit. That said, I'm wishing they'll do more with them in the coming OVA and series.

I mean there are hundreds of witches and dozens of other squadrons. This doesn't even get into the fact that there are some pretty well established story lines dealing with the Africa campaign as well as the Eastern Front and Fuso as well.

That's just without touching the Doujinshi material at that too, plenty of lore to go around for everyone and hopefully they'll get things going in those directions a bit more. Not that I'd want them to abandon the 501st completely and let's face it, there's no way they're going to do that entirely, but it would be nice to get the others involved...

...it's only a matter of time, right?
