[Japan] Ready for Launch: The Starfighter Space Bus

We all know public transport. Love it, hate it or just want more of it, it seems that the folks in Japan are once again having extremely too much fun with things again. This time it's Willer Travel who have gone off the deep end and created a few insanely themed buses entitled, The Starfighter.

Calling them "attraction buses", they've set to make them separate from the rest of their more "boring" fleet in service. But considering that these are so different than a regular bus, the name kinda works...for the most part.

Once you get on board you'll notice that there's no windows and the entire inside is themed after, well...a space ship. Not that the name wouldn't give that away, but that's not all they have up their sleeves on this one. Every seat is fitted with a joystick and a screen in the back of the seat in front of you. This is for the games that feature along your trip. Not only that, but the entire ceiling is awash in the otherworldly glow of starscapes and other such spacey themed things.

Don't get your hopes up for a long journey on these though. Currently there's only a few tours that they're used for. One of them, fittingly enough, is a one-hour trip from Tokyo's Shinjuku to the Tsukuba Space Center. Can't think of a much better destination for a bus such as this one.

Guess they weren't happy with running their regular overnight buses or someone just got bored...either way, it's definitely a trippy way to get about!
