[Haunts] The 2014 Great Horror Campout, Coming to a City Near You?

If you're like myself and the rest of us here at Kitsuneverse, you've probably watched a horror movie and gone, "I could survive". We even have some pretty kick ass drinking games surrounding them at that.

Well, if that's how your mind works, then the folks from Ten Thirty One Productions dare you to do just that with the "Great Horror Campout 2014". (Well, without the booze that is.)

For 12 hours, you and the rest of your fellow campers are challenged to survive several different challenges and nightmares throughout your stay. There's only a couple of safe areas and your tent is not one of them, anything can and will likely happen throughout the night.

Their goal? To try and make this as immersive and insane as possible for everyone there.

This year's overnight horror survival experience will be held in either more than one city or just one. That is if their recent Facebook post is anything to go by. In it they listed several cities and many are thinking this could be the sign that the event will happen in or near all of them. Which ones are on the list? Glad ya asked, here it is:
Los Angeles, Houston, Austin, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, San Jose
It's hard to say, but either way it's looking like a bit of a departure from last year, but cool that they're expanding the range of the event so that more people can experience it. That's if it's actually going to be that. No clue other than the lead in saying "Anyone know what this means?". It was also followed up with a image that's a bit different as well...

We'll just have to wait to see what they have cooked up for 2014 and the dates for this year's event, but considering that even their website is teasing "coming to a city near you", I think it's likely they'll be taking the show on the road. Great news for fans and new addicts out there without a doubt. Now, for those not familiar with the whole concept, here's a bit of run down of what the whole thing is about.

The whole event is 12 hours long, running from 8pm to 8am and your ticket includes a buffet style dinner featuring camp fare, a continental breakfast, a spot in a four person tent, parking, the Hell Hunt Experience, movies around the bonfire and marshmallow roasting as well as the rest of the events taking place that evening.

You only need to bring some kind of flashlight, a sleeping bag and drinks, since none are supplied outside of the dinner and breakfast. Snacks may be a good idea too, if you're the type that gets a bit munchy.

The campground itself is divided up into separate zones, all of them with their own unique fun and thrills as well. There's the Tent Zone/Camping out area which is considered to be "High Startle" as well as the "Hell Hunt" itself and is extremely interactive and features the most immersive terror during the night. Not your speed? Well they have the bonfire area for movies and roasting marshmallows, both promised to be "unsettling" yet are considered "safe zones".

Overall this is seems like a great event and the possibility of it spreading out to more cities than just LA in the future is definitely intriguing.

Love the idea of that actually and the first time I heard of this, thanks to +Fright Bites, I had flashbacks to when I worked at Sleepy Hollow Hayrides. We had idea that was cooked up there, but never got off the ground and was pretty similar in a few ways, good times. Either way, really happy to see someone else was thinking it too and it got it going!
