[Haunts] Valentine's Haunt Mega Post, Nothing like a little Fear to say "I Love You"

Well, Valentine's Day is fast approaching, like it or not. However, for those tired of the chocolates, flowers and the rest of the Hallmark holiday crap that goes along with it there are other options. For all those a bit more into the macabre and think Halloween just isn't enough time for hitting your favorite haunt, this post is for you!

Not long ago, many wouldn't even think of opening a haunt outside of the months of September and October. The times, they are a changin' and there's plenty of scare to go around for you and your sweetheart this year. Everything from nerve rattling "alone houses" to more traditional haunts and the theatrical, there's bound to be something out there for everyone.

I've done my best to track down as many haunts as possible that will be open, but if I've left a couple out, let me know. There's got to me more than just the handful that I've managed to find here, find 'em and I'll add them to the list!

There's a little something for everyone on this list; from the extreme to the more traditional to some flat out bizarre and strange experiences as well. So, if you're looking for that non-traditional way to spend this coming Valentine's Day weekend, here's a handy little guide to the haunts that will be open. After all, nothing says I love you like a good scream, right?

With that, on with the list!

UPDATE: If you're looking for the 2015 list, head on over to the new list and keep checking back as it gets updated here!

Broken Hearts in the Basement: ScareHouse - Etna, PA

The breakthrough, reality challenging addition to one of the best haunts in the country, The Basement, is back and promising all new thrills and chills for the kiddies. Like it's previous incarnations you can go through either alone, or with one other person, that's it.

On Saturday, February 15th, it gets a makeover for the Broken Hearts in the Basement - a special Valentines' Day themed show  with new characters, scenes, and encounters. As usual, you must be 18 or older and willing to sign waiver. You will be touched and restrained during this one and The Basement contains profanity and adult subject matter.

As with the earlier December show, this one is likely to sell out as space is very limited. Getting tickets early is definitely a good idea, times are limited to every 15min between 6-10:30pm. Get your tickets early before this one sells out!

For more info, check out the official ScareHouse website or go directly here to purchase tickets for this one night only engagement!

Love and Death 3 at Castle Blood - Monessen, PA

February 14th and 15th from 7-10pm, the denizens of Castle Blood are celebrating a mortal holiday with their own twists. Unlike their Christmas show, Spooky Little Cryptmas, they're bringing back the scares and sarcasm full force.

Additionally, if you pre-order your tickets in advance for Saturday night (or are one of the first 50 at the window) you'll get treated to dinner and a masquerade party. They're definitely out to make an event of the whole thing and we love that!

For more info about this event and how to get tickets and the special deal, check out the earlier post about the even or visit the Castle Blood website or the event's Facebook page for more details. Also, be sure to check out our reviews of their Halloween and Christmas shows to get an idea of what Castle Blood is all about!

Dark Valentine at Brighton Asylum - Passaic, NJ

I've already written about this one, but since this is a big old list, here it is.

February 15th and 16th, the Asylum will open up it's doors to a wonderland of love and terror that only the folks at Brighton can cook up.

For this one, you'll be given the option of getting a glow necklace to wear to signify that the intensity can be ratcheted up a few notches for you as well. Making it a blend of extreme and normal depending on your taste.

There is a waiver required for the show between the hours of 8:30pm-10:30pm on Friday and Saturday nights, regardless of taking the necklace or not. However, there is a show for those under the age of 18 available from 7:30-8:30pm on Saturday night as well!

For more information about what this is just all about, check out my earlier post or the official Brighton Asylum website for more!

Valentine X at 13th Floor - Denver, San Antonio, Phoenix

Not surprising, all three 13th Floor attractions are doing a similar event for this year's Valentine's Day with Valentine X. This time, they're definitely getting a bit more into the spirit of things than their Christmas event and it's an all new experience that's making it's debut to boot! Definitely a good thing to see and love the weirdness of it all as well.

So, for everyone out there that's near one, this coming February 14th and 15th between the hours of 7:30-10:30pm get ready to experience a little candle light horror courtesy of the Bear Butcher. Just make sure you leave with your forehead free of any marks...

For more information and to purchase tickets, check out the official websites for the 13th Floor in Denver, San Antonio and Phoenix!

Moxley Manor's Valentine's Day Massacre - Bedford, TX

The folks behind Moxley Manor have decided once more to fling open their doors this Valentine's and are promising to make things interesting for you and your significant other.

A wicked kind of love will be introduced at this year's Valentine’s Day Massacre. For two nights of fright, Feb 14th and 15th, they'll be open from 8pm-10pm for those of you looking for an alternate way to celebrate the Valentine’s Day Holiday.

Never been, but I've heard nothing but good things about Moxley Manor overall and it's good to see another Texas haunt on the list this holiday season as well!

For more info check out the official Moxley Manor website for tickets, directions and all that fun jazz.

Put a Hex on Your Ex at Kim's Krypt - Essex, MD

Kim's Krypt brings you a bloody nightmare on one of the most beloved weekends of the year, Valentine's Weekend. New exciting blood drenched rooms and some just ment for lovers of all ages. A kissing booth, some loving clowns and all some of your old favorite's will be on hand to give you the fright of your life.

Ponchos will be available and strongly suggested! I just love that statement, what could go wrong?

Additionally, and similar to Brighton Asylum, the level of interaction is up to you. One bloody "X" on your face? Some touching. Two? A little bit more fun for you...but you can also choose to go without and still enjoy the 25-30min tour through the madness. Bring a little something of your Ex's and they'll but a hex on it as well!

The event runs Feb 14th, 15th and 16th from 7-10:30pm and is 21 and up ONLY! For more info and to buy tickets head over to the official Kim's Krypt website for all that and more!

Bloody Valentine's Weekend at Blood Manor - NYC

Forget the roses and chocolate this year as one of New York's premier Haunts is firing things up on all cylinders once again on Feb 14th and 15th from 7:30pm-1am.

Just what does Blood Manor have in store? Not really clear to be honest, at least not from their website. They don't really go far with the details. Either way, it's likely to be one helluva time at a consistently good haunt.

But we do have a little video...odd that.

For more information, check out the official Blood Manor website for ticket prices, directions and all that good stuff!

Necromance at St. Albans Sanatorium - Radford, VA

St. Albans is not open just one weekend, they're open Feb. 7th and 8th, 14th and 15th and the 21st and 22nd! Yep, that's three weekends of terror!

Unlike some of the other more extreme haunts on the list, this one is stated to be alright for those 8 and up, but those under 12 should be accompanied by an adult. That's not really out of the ordinary though as most haunts are alright for most ages, usually.

However, unlike many of the above, St Albans is a real Sanatorium and has quite the checkered past to go along with it from it's original days as a Boys School all the way up until it's closing!

For more info about Necromance, check out the official St Albans website for ticket prices and tons of other info that I just couldn't fit into here.

Twisted Love at Cutting Edge - Fort Worth, TX

Take a trip through the one of the world's largest haunted attractions this Valentine's, well more specifically Feb 14th and 15th.

However, this time there's a catch, from 8-10pm each night, it's only going to be lit by candle light and promises to give your loved one something to really scream about!

For more info about tickets, directions and other useful tidbits of info, be sure to check out the official Cutting Edge website for all that and more!

UPDATE 1/6: Even more Haunted Attractions for this year's Valentine's Day!

Arx Mortis' My Bloody Valentine - Killen, AL

February 14th and 15th, the deviously wicked minds behind Killen Alabama's Arx Mortis fling open the doors for their second annual Valentine's event.

Featuring over 50,000sqft of terror, this one is definitely not one to miss if you're in the area. Tickets for this one will go on sale at 7pm with the attraction opening up at 7:30pm.

As they say, everyone falls victim, and this top Haunted Attraction is definitely in the mood for seeing just how far you'll do just that.

For more info about location, dates, times and other interesting tidbits head on over to the official Arx Mortis website for all that and much more!

Dark Hour's Love is Blind - Plano, TX

The folks at Dark Hour invite everyone to come and explore their own fears this coming February 14th and 15th with "Love is Blind".

Those brave enough to enter the confines will be faced the navigating the haunt in total darkness. This year they're looking to see just how in touch with your sense of touch you really are, just hope you don't get a barbed blindfold in the process, eh?

For more info head on over to the official Dark Hour website for tickets, times and more!

Hearts of Darkness - Kingsbury Cemetery - Corning, NY

On February 14th and 15th, from 7-10pm, the folks at Kingsbury invite you take a journey into the fear of the unknown.

Just what will be lurking for you in the dark? Well, that's pretty much a mystery. To be honest, I haven't heard of this place until doing this and I have no idea what kind of show they put on.

However, if you're interested for more, check out their official website or Facebook page for all that and more!

Eat Your Heart Out - District of the Dead & Final Fear - Hamburg, NY

For the first time, Western NY will have their very own Valentine's Day haunt thanks to the efforts from both Final Fear and District of the Dead on the weekends of Feb 7th/8th and Feb 14th/15th.

Unlike some of the other haunts on the list, they'll have not just one attraction, but three terrifying experiences for those brave enough to venture out.

Check the official website for either District of the Dead or Final Fear for more info about times, directions and tickets!

UPDATE 2/13/14: Well a few more events have surfaced and just in time!

Warehouse 31 - Bloody Valentine - Birmingham, AL

Whether you have just gone through a recent breakup or you are planning a night with that special someone, Warehouse31 offers something different.

For those lovebirds it can be a chance for you to jump into the protective arms of your companion or squeeze each other’s hand until it turns blue. For the men it’s the chance to be the hero and protect your girl. For the ladies it’s the opportunity to be the damsel in distress.

For those that don’t like the sappy stuff on Valentines then picture your ex as one of the bloody props in our graveyard or one of the crazy monsters locked in our insane asylum or padded room. Or just feel free to come scream your head off for 30 minutes and get it out of your system. Regardless of your relationship status, Warehouse31 aims to offer something different to do this Valentines Day.

Check out the official Warehouse 31 website for tickets, times and more!

Dark Hearts at All Saints Lunatic Asylum - Apple Valley, CA

I don't know a lot about this haunt, but they're doing an event and it's cheap! So, if you're in the area might be something to check out for something different.

Has anyone out there been this one?

For more info, head on over to their official website for all that good stuff!

Bloody Valentine at Talladega Frights - Bakersfield, CA

Located at the Kern County Museum, this one is going to be a pretty wild couple of nights. Both Feb 14th and 15th, they'll be opening their doors at 7pm.

For $20 they have their haunt, but also live DJ's, a dance party and probably a whole lot more going on. This one, like Castle Blood, looks to be a whole evening of scares for you and your loved one!

For more info head on over the official website, you know you want to!

Sinister Pointe's Valentine's Day Battle Royale - Brea, CA

Sadly this one is already sold out, but I love the idea of the insane interactive dinner show that they have going on with this one.

Challenges, trivia and a three course meal for those lucky enough to have gotten tickets. Definitely not a bad way to spend an evening at all!

Bloody Valentine at Scream Acres - Covington, KY

While they're no stranger to doing some off the wall off season events, this year they're dishing up some more insanity for everyone's favorite (or loathed) "Hallmark Holiday".

A more traditional haunt experience tossed in with a little flair for the holiday. From 7pm til Midnight on Friday the 14th, they'll be sure to welcome couples, singles and anything else you can think up to scream the night away. Tickets run $20 a person and you can get them from their website here.

Scream Acres Zombie Prom - Covington, KY

But wait, there's more! Yep, that's right the folks at Scream Acres aren't just content to give you one event this weekend. On Saturday, February 15th, they'll be hosting their very own Zombie Prom night.

So, head out into the decked out in your finest 2014 zombie fashions and be prepared to try and survive the night.

Definitely an interesting one and while there's tons of other zombie events out there, I haven't run across one that takes place anywhere near Valentine's Day at all. So, this one's pretty cool if you ask me. Head over to the official site for the info!

Fright Manor - Indianapolis, IN

This is another mystery event to me, not much information could be found on what's going on but I do love their catch phrase for this year; "We're going to give love a bad name this Valentine's Day". No doubt they'll do their best to live up to that one this Friday and Saturday nights.

Tickets run only $10 per person and it's cash only so hit up the ATM before ya head out and check the official site for more info!

The Sanctuary's Tunnel of Love - Oklahoma City, OK

Yeah, something tells me this tunnel doesn't have a light at the end of it and there's probably little room for surviving the night intact. However, at only $15 for two people, how do you not take the chance, right?!

From 8pm-Midnight on the 14th and 15th this newer haunt is ready to take you to all new heights of fear this holiday! Check out the official site for more info!

Chainsaw Massacre - Amarillo, TX

This Friday and Saturday night the folks at Chainsaw Massacre are really turning up the heat, burning chainsaws and all! Top that off, if you hit up their Facebook page, you can propose to your special someone right there in the haunt, ain't that sweet?

Tickets are going for $20 a person and they're open from 7pm to Midnight on both nights. Hit up their website for more info!

Valentine X at House of Torment - Austin, TX

If this looks familiar to the 13th Floor haunts, you'd be correct, it's pretty much the same exact set up.

What was meant to be a romantic night has now become a tale of bloodied hearts and terrifying revenge that will keep you and your date or friends clenched in fear! House of Torment presents: Valentine X, a new, thrilling experience premiering Valentine’s weekend in 2014.

Experience the Bear Butcher and his gnarly blade seeking out his lustful and obsessive revenge in candlelit horror as he leaves nothing but an “X” carved into his victim’s foreheads. Celebrate Valentine’s weekend in a way like no other by getting scared at House of Torment!

For more head on over to their official website and also, check out the little bit of video below!

Valentine Massacre at Tayman Graveyard - Midlothian, TX

This Friday and Saturday from 7:30 until 11pm, Tayman Graveyard invites all you foolish mortals for a night that you won't soon forget. At $10 a person, it's not a bad way to spice things up for a normally dull holiday either!

They've put a bit more thought into this one with some pretty cool back story information as well. Always love to see that kind of thing going on. So, here's a little of that from their site:

Creatures lurk within the walls of Tayman Funeral Home, obscured by the deepening fog of February. You'll find yourself trapped within the mildewing walls of the Victorian funeral parlour, begging for a way out. With the caretaker away on his winter retreat, the power is out, and the only source of light will be a candle to guide your way though the maze of madness. If you hold on tight enough, you may just be able to keep your hold on your loved ones.... but if they stray too far away you can probably still hear them screaming.

So, head on over to their official site for more information!

And there ya have it, every haunt that I could track down that's open this Valentine's Day weekend or beyond. Again, if I'm missing anything, drop me a line and I'll be sure to add it!
