[Haunts] Halloween Horror Nights Dropping The Walking Dead and Other Rumors

Please god, yes. Let this one be true. I'll be honest, I just don't care that much about the show anymore and from what we saw last year, most people didn't care much for the theme either, at least in Orlando.

The folks over at Behind the Thrills posted up an article yesterday talking about a rumor in which Universal Hollywood and Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights would be dropping the iconic AMC show, The Walking Dead, from their line up for this year.

Now, I've already gone over why I think it was a bad idea to put all their eggs in one basket to begin with, so no need to go over all that again as you can read that right here if you want to. However, let's take a look at where this idea even came from and a few other surprise that could be in store.

The evidence of this? Well, it's definitely a bit sketchy in nature to say the least and I won't fully believe it until the announcements start rolling out around August. All we have at the moment is this exchange that happened on Twitter and it's not even from the official The Walking Dead account either. So, definitely have to take this with a grain of salt for the moment.

Doesn't exactly seem too damning and, again, there aren't any official channels involved. The only other bit of evidence is a screen cap from Universal Orlando's HHN website posted to the Facebook group Halloween Horror Nights Updaters. Again, not an official channel, and it was posted up on April 1st, so there's that whole April Fool's thing going on too.

I've put together a little comparison of what's on the site as of right now and the one that was "screen capped" using a camera and not the actual feature on a computer on the left here.

At first glance, there's not much difference between them other than the lack of detail that's in the top image. As far as The Walking Dead goes? It's not mentioned at all. However, there are some interesting things that are.

It would seem that Trick R Treat, American Horror Story, Dead Space and Insidious are all on the list for this year according to that image. Now, Insidious was out in Hollywood last year, but the others? They would all definitely be new additions to the HHN line up, whether that be Hollywood or Orlando.

Dead Space has been long requested by fans and I doubt anyone would argue with an AHS maze either, that show is bonkers enough that they could have a lot of fun with that one. Trick R Treat could definitely be interesting as well.

Now, I know tons of people out there love The Walking Dead, but for the past two years there has been an increasing lean towards the show towards the point of total takeover. I get having a maze or maybe a scare zone outside of it based on the show, but last year Universal Orlando went into overkill mode and themed every scare zone around the show. During our visit last year, (check out the review here) it just seemed to fall a little flat. Maybe that's just us, but we observed a lot of folks who just didn't seem to care much either at the time.

As for the other stuff that was possibly leaked? Well, it would be awesome to see some of that coming to the parks but as it was posted on April Fool's Day, I'm not going to hold my breath either. We'll just have to wait a few months to see just what they have in store for everyone, but here's to hoping at least a couple of those do come to be true!
