[Haunts] New Haunt for Downtown Orlando? Nightmares at the Majestic Opening in 2014

It looks like Downtown Orlando will hopefully have another haunt to call it's own, finally. It's been years since Terror on Church Street thrilled visitors, but one of it's own former employees has returned to bring the fear back to Orlando.

14 years after Church Street closed, Alan Ostrander; performer, show manager, make-up artist and character designer for Terror on Church Street, is leading the charge to bring a similar style attraction back to Orlando after spending 13 years in Asia. There he helped helm some of Hong Kong's largest Halloween Events.

With a host of other members from the old Terror on Church Street crew, they're trying to bring back a little something different to the haunt landscape in Orlando. Something for everyone and that isn't just Universal.

Nightmares at the Majestic will not be at the old location of Terror on Church Street (that's a condo building now) and it's not at The Exchange either (which never was a good fit), this time they'll be at the Majestic Event Center on the corner of the John Young Parkway and West Colonial Drive. Definitely a bit more favorable location as far as getting to it and parking should be much easier as well, we can hope.

So, just what can folks expect out of this new haunt? Ostrander describes Nightmares at the Majestic as, “a total sensory overload of terror like you have never experienced before.” Its story will surround “a gathering of another kind — Spirits, Evil, Dementia and Madness.”

That said, they can't do it alone and have launched an IndieGoGo campaign to try and help raise some of the funds that they'll need to open this year along with other more traditional means of funding. So far, they've only raised $75, but things could turn around as they have 25 days left on that. Keep in mind, that's only part of the $35,000+ they need to open as well.

They have a lot to do before their opening on October 1st and the clock is definitely against them on that. I do hope that they'll get things together though and give Orlando another option outside of Universal in the Haunt department. So, here's to hoping that they can pull it off and it's great to hear that the haunter community has already heard the call to arms with donations of props and other things for them.

Outside of that, there's not a lot of details as to just what this attraction will really feature, but they have a newly launched Twitter account (@GoNightmares), Facebook Page and their official website as well.

Stay tuned as I'm sure more announcements will be coming out of the team and of course we'll be keeping an eye on how things progress!
