[Haunts] Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare Tears into Chicago for 2014

Yep, that's right, Rob Zombie is bringing twice the nightmare fuel this Halloween. Not only will Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare be in Scottsdale, Arizona but now they've announced that it's coming to the Chicago area as well!

It looks like the events from last year's event in Southern California will be returning in their entirety for the Villa Park event as well. Though, there's definitely been a few upgrades to them from the sounds of it. Additionally, just as in Scottsdale, Rob Zombie will be in town to perform live on opening night, September 26th.

“I am thrilled to be able to expand the Great American Nightmare to two new cities this year,” said Zombie. My only goal is to make it twice as sick as last year.” Here's to hoping that ya do Rob and from the sounds of it, things are looking to be just that. Definitely going to be one helluva time.

”After the tremendous success last year we all felt we wanted to bring Great American Nightmare to as many people as possible,” says Great American Nightmare producer Steve Kopelman. “Chicago is a haunted house hotbed with the Odeum Expo center being the go-to haunted house venue for the past two decades. We really feel the Midwest will welcome this event with open arms and this will be the ultimate Chicagoland Halloween event.”

So, just what can the folks in the Chicagoland area expect out of the event? Well, here's the breakdown.

Utilizing Chromadepth glasses, this innovative attraction will take the patron right into the middle of the irreverent world Rob Zombie's "El Superbeast", the 2009 exploitation musical horror comedy based on the comic book series of the same name.

This attraction's unique surprise entrance, brilliant colors, sudden chills and startling thrills, and salacious humor will make guests scream with fright and laughter.

If ya can't scare 'em, make 'em laugh...always been my motto with things and you can't go wrong with it in any haunt out there as far as I'm concerned!

Haunt of 1000 Corpses: Paying homage to the 10-year anniversary of the film, House of 1000 Corpses, this extreme traditional haunted house will take visitors on a walking journey through a recreation of the film's "Museum of Monsters and Madmen" along with an expanded "Murder Ride" and confronting notorious serial killers along the way.

This high impact, highly detailed attraction will use state of the art animatronics, video effects, costuming, sound, scents and lights.

The Lords of Salem: In Total Black Out: Based on the 2012 film, The Lords of Salem, this haunt is designed to twist the mind.

It will accenuate some of the senses while limiting others. These include fear of the dark, claustrophobia, and fear of the unknown as those brave enough are preyed upon while trying to traverse this sixty degree maze.

Not too much new here, compared to what's going on down in Scottsdale, but definitely nice to see things being spread out a bit more across the US for those wanting to experience the madness that resides in Rob Zombie's mind first hand. Fans and horror junkies alike won't want to miss out on this one at all.

This year's even in Chicago will run from September 26th-November 1st and will be open from 7pm until Midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7pm-10pm on Thursday and Sunday nights. Tickets aren't on sale yet, but they will be starting on July 30th at 10am CDT. Tickets for the event will start at $25 and opening night run $45, due to the Rob Zombie concert.

For more information, hit up the official Rob Zombie's Great American Nightmare website for directions, photos, video and a ton more about the event as well!
