[Haunts] New Maze, Scare Zone and More Coming to Cedar Point's 2014 Halloweekends!

It's just 7 days until this year's HolloWeekends at Sandusky's Cedar Point kicks off and they've definitely got a few new things for Halloween fans out there coming in 2014. While there's not a ton of new things, the couple that are coming, there is an all new maze, scare zone, show and a some extra features that you can grab with Fright Lane as well.

First up, there's a little something extra coming to the Fright Lane options at this year's event, Skeleton Key. For those not familiar with this, Skeleton Key is a Fright Lane option that gives those with it access to an extra room within certain mazes during the event. It was first done out at Knott's Scary Farm last year and seems to have gone chain wide for Cedar Fair this year. Definitely a cool thing and should check it out if ya get the chance.

One of the bigger new additions for this year's event? The all new Hexed maze!

Witches of all shapes, sizes and types are ready to greet you in the new HEXED haunted house! Steaming cauldrons, bubbling potions and slithering surprises await you inside this bewitching haunt!

Definitely cool to see the witch theme going on here, not many do it at the bigger event level anymore and hopefully Cedar Point can do it right. From the sounds it though, they may just have this. Hard to say though as not much is really known about this one on my end.

Hexed will join the returning houses from last year; Zombie High School, Eternity Infirmary, Eden Muse and G.A. Boeckling's Eerie Estate. Kind of odd they only have five mazes in such a large park, but that's their call there. Even weirder due to the next bit of news.

Anyway, that's not all that's new. There's another new addition to the scare-zone category of things this year as well, Tombstone Terror-tory.

The dead of FrontierTown are roaming this Old West community - and they're out to get new cowboys & cowgirls. It's a new haunted experience filled with rootin' tootin' terror!

Nothing overly new or ground breaking here as far as the theme goes, but it is interesting that Cedar Point will have more scare zones than mazes, usually that's the other way around.

However, that's not all, there's more! Yeah, can't let the shows get off without a mention here either and while it was announced ages ago, might as well toss this in here too. This year the park will be featuring a live show from the masters of all things disturbing in the realm of Halloween mood music, Midnight Syndicate.

The show, Midnight Syndicate: Live! Legacy of Shadows will be held in the Good Time Theater, it's been noted that it could be intense for some younger folks but then again all of HalloWeekend's could be considered that after the sun goes down.

Showtimes each night of HalloWeekends are:
Fridays:     7:30pm, 9:00pm, 10:30pm
Saturdays: 6:00pm, 7:30pm, 9:00pm, 10:30pm     Sundays:   2:00pm, 4:00pm, 6:00pm

If you can, definitely check this out as these guys are legends in the haunt biz.

That's about it for everything after the sun goes down at Cedar Point this year. Not a ton, but the few new offerings seem to be pretty solid here. I'm not sure if we'll be visiting this year during Haunt Tour 2014 as it'll definitely depend on how much time we have, but if you go we'd love to hear your thoughts on it as well!

This year's HalloWeekend's runs on select nights from Sept 12th until November 1st. For more information, tickets and all the rest, check out the official HalloWeekends website!
