[Haunts] Skeleton Key and New Mazes Come to Kings Island's Halloween Haunt in 2014!

Just two weeks away, Kings Island's Halloween Haunt is adding in a few new ways to terrify those who decide to wander through the monster infested park in 2014. No, it's not nearly as anything drastic as a complete overhaul, but there's a couple of things that are really good to see happening for this year. Not only have they added two new mazes but they've also brought in the Skeleton Key add on for Fright Lane as well.

Skeleton Key is a way to visit unique rooms that are only available to those who purchase it, typically limited to just five mazes throughout the event, it's a way to get a little more bang out of each house. If you're thinking about it, should definitely check it out as who knows if you'll ever get to experience those rooms again, they have a habit of changing.

The other big news for Halloween Haunt 2014 is the inclusion of two new mazes, upping the park's total to a dizzying 11. That's a lot there folks and not many parks try to pull something like that off, not even Kings Island's sister park is that crazy. This year KillMart and The Slaughter House: Reloaded join nine returning mazes.

KillMart

A new department store has opened in the neighborhood that has everything you need with killer deals in every aisle. Shop 'til you drop...dead!

Gotta admit, this is a pretty fun idea and something that I really haven't seen done at any haunted attraction level before. I'm sure there's bound to be plenty of chaos going on inside this one and might make you rethink picking up that extra pop on your way out.

Next up, Slaughter House: Reloaded. For a long while now there's been speculation over just what was going on with the new construction by The Beast and now we finally know the answer to that, it's an all new indoor haunt!

Slaughter House: Reloaded

Looking for a fresh cut of meat? A new butcher shop has opened in Rivertown and it's a real meat-lover's delight. You never know who - or what - is on the chopping block!

Not really a new theme here, been done almost everywhere, but here's to hoping that the building and inside ties in with the iconic coaster that it's located right next to. So much potential there for things to work just right. Fingers crossed, eh?

What about the returning houses? Well, there's nine of them and here's the rundown of just what's coming back for 2014! CarnEvil, Board to Death, Club Blood, CornStalkers, Die Delta Die, Madam Fatale's Cavern of Terror, Tombstone Terror-tory, Urgent Scare and Wolf Pack will all be back. Also, the four scare zones from last year are returning as well.

I'm pretty sure we won't be making it out for this year's event, but we have enjoyed it in the past and this year's event looks to be shaping up to be pretty good. I just hope that they're not over extending themselves by having so many mazes going on here, many big events like this can run into population issues.

This year's Halloween Haunt at Kings Island starts on September 19th and runs on select nights through November 1st. You can find out more details like dates, times, ticket prices and more on the official Kings Island Halloween Haunt website!
