[Cons/Anime] Anime North Announces Special Screening of The Tale of Princess Kaguya

Anime North has just announced that they will be screening the Oscar Nominated animated film by Studio Ghibli, The Tale of Princess Kaguya at this year's event. Definitely something that those who haven't seen the film and are fans of Ghibli will want to check out for sure. Right now the times for the screenings haven't been announced, but once the schedule is released, I'll have that info to update things here.

For now, here's the official announcement from Anime North!

Anime North is proud to present The Tale of Princess Kaguya courtesy of G Kids.

Legendary Studio Ghibli cofounder Isao Takahata (Grave of the Fireflies, Pom Poko) revisits Japan’s most famous folktale in this gorgeous, hand drawn masterwork, decades in the making. Found inside a shining stalk of bamboo by an old bamboo cutter and his wife, a tiny girl grows rapidly into an exquisite young lady. The mysterious young princess enthralls all who encounter her – but ultimately she must confront her fate, the punishment for her crime.

From the studio that brought you Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and The Wind Rises comes a powerful, sweeping epic that redefines the limits of animated storytelling and marks a triumphant highpoint within an extraordinary career in filmmaking for director Isao Takahata.

This screening comes courtesy of G Kids, Patema Inverted and Welcome to the Space Show.

Stay tuned for a lot more news from Anime North, that I've been a bit behind on, right here and of course follow along via  Twitter, Google+, Tumblr and even Facebook for all the latest!
