[Haunts] Monessen's Castle Blood Launches Kickstarter Campaign for 2015 Season!

Yesterday Castle Blood announced, and launched, their new Kickstarter campaign for the 2015 season. As you may remember, they also had one last year to help them get things sorted within their new location, a 100 year old funeral home, so that they could get back up and running. While they've gotten a lot of amazing stuff already done with the place in the past year, it still needs a lot of work and the building has a ton of issues that need fixed still.

According to owner, Ricky Dick, they soon realized that the project they were undertaking was a massive one, "As we got into it, we found this place was in much worse condition than we ever imagined. Heck, we didn't even manage to get the electric straightened out till mid July. That was a goal from last years Kickstarter, and we accomplished it."

You've seen me talk about Castle Blood a lot here, and I won't lie, it's one of our favorite haunted attractions that we've ever been to in over 20 years in the business. There's no one doing what they do and we wholeheartedly support them.

What's really cool about this place, and makes it so unique, is that it's not an in and out kind of haunt. You're not herded through, you get to spend time in each scene and you're challenged to become a part of things through interacting with their world and the denizens to survive your journey.

It's the mix of interactive theater and traditional scares which is really something else is what +Carrie H.C., +Alexandra F and I have most enjoyed for years now from the entire cast and crew. So much so they've won Best Interactive and Best Theatrical haunt from us in the past two years. Again, there's just nothing else like it out there. If things go according to plan this year, the tour will likely be over an hour long. That's an insanely long time, but also incredibly awesome.

Oh, you want more? Well, like I said before, they have a lot of challenges and issues to overcome still with their new building. Not only did they have the age of the structure against them, but vandals, scavengers and other annoyances also caused issues that were not immediately seen nor realized until they dove into things. It's a massive project, no question about that at all.

According to owner, Ricky Dick, they soon realized that the project they were undertaking was a massive one, "As we got into it, we found this place was in much worse condition than we ever imagined. Heck, we didn't even manage to get the electric straightened out till mid July. That was a goal from last years kickstarter, and we accomplished it." Yeah, that sounds pretty bad right there, but that's not all.

Here's their campaign video for this year that not only explains some of what's going on, but you can also see some of the issues that they're facing. Try not to mind Vapor too much, they don't let her out often.

As you can see, a lot of things already look great and definitely close to being at the levels that they should be, but there's a lot more work that needs to be done. There are still scenes to finish, holes in the roof to patch, and many other quality of life fixes and improvements for guests and actors a like to help out with.

So, if you're a fan of all things Halloween, horror or just love the spooky spirit that the Munsters, Addams Family and others have passed down through the years, you need to seriously help these guys out. This haunt is so awesome that it's the only time we've ever upgraded a rating during the season, they're really that great. Don't believe me? Check out our reviews of their more recent events!

Be sure to follow along with the updates on the official Castle Blood Facebook page and definitely don't miss their special Facebook Kickstarter Page either!
