[Haunts] Universal Orlando Teases Something Big for Halloween Horror Nights 25

Nope, we have no clue what it is or what it pertains to, but the folks at Universal Orlando are planning something for May 19th. Yeah, that's tomorrow. We do have a few clues as to what they might be up to though.

This past Saturday, HHN Creative Director, Mike Aiello posted a cryptic video on Twitter. In it, an empty hallway and the promise that "The Nightmare Returns", whatever that means.

Not much else to go on other than a blurry figure that's off in the distance. Just who or what this is, likely the announcement that they'll be making, or will be part of it at the very least. Interestingly enough, many folks seem to think that the "Nightmare" reference has something to do with Freddy Kruger. I'm not so sure on that one, it seems more likely that it's Jack the Clown, long since known to be coming back for the 25th anniversary.

UPDATE: Jack is back! All the details here!

But, you be the judge. Here's a screen shot from the video that I snagged earlier:

There are a few things here that could go either way. One, Jack's hair is wild and goes out to the sides but Freddy Kruger also has his iconic brimmed hat which could do the same in a picture such as this. So, I get where both sides are coming from.

However, there is something that not many are talking about but the folks over Behind the Thrills have pointed out. (Along with some awesome coverage of the HHN panel this past weekend as well.) Anyway, it seems that Universal sent out a bunch of popcorn containers to winners of the HHN Compound and The Collective. What was really interesting was that the boxes were filled with all kinds of codes, hints and other randomness that somehow led people to a hidden page within the Halloween Horror Nights website, mere called "maniacs" and a picture of the same hallway above, but empty.

Does maniacs have anything to do with this? Not sure on that and I can't think of how things would connect. Well, outside of the fact that Jack is a maniac. The rest? Anyone's guess right now.

So, sit tight as I'll be sure to be on top of this one tomorrow and bring you all the latest, as well any other weirdness that Universal decides to announce for Halloween Horror Nights 25!
