[Haunts] Universal Hollywood Announces This is the End 3D Coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2015

The latest announcement of This is the End for Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights has been a really interesting one to watch. There's no way around that one, it's an interesting choice, but not that strange if you really think about it. John Murdy has always taken a creative approach to the 3D house for the event and it's not uncommon for themes to revolve around music or even comedy. It's a grab bag.

So, judgements aside, here's all the info about This is the End 3D coming to Halloween Horror Nights 2015 at Universal Hollywood.
"Today is your lucky day! You have been invited to a party at James Franco's house, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to hang with the stars...unfortunately your timing sucks! The end of the world as prophesied in the book of Revelations occurs before you make it to the party! Now you're trapped in a life-and-death struggle, as you're forced to confront not only the demons of Hell...but a bunch of seriously tweaked out Hollywood A-listers! Will you be raptured up to heaven or be damned for all time?"
Definitely gonna be an interesting one to see how they handle, no doubt about that one, before we get too much further on what HHN Creative Director, John Murdy, has to say about this, let's take a look a the announcement trailer, shall we?

So yeah, comedy+horror. That's a thing out there. I mean, Cabin in the Woods had a heavy dose of humor and actually, when you think about it, several horror films incorporate some kind of humor into things as well. However, I don't know if this film is the best of that, but hey...always a first for everything right? This is HHN Hollywood and they did have a maze featuring Penn & Teller, not exactly horror icons, ya know?

But, don't take my word on that, here's a bit more from the man responsible for the insanity, himself:
"Why are we doing this? I said before that I was interested in expanding the boundaries, finding horror in unlikely places. But when you look at the film, what do you find? The Apocalypse from Revelations. Demons. Creatures. Possession. Canibalism. Works for me!".
Murdy went on to say this about it, acknowledging the "out of the box" thinking required about this one, "The obvious challenge here is combining horror and comedy in a maze. Has to succeed on both levels. Risky as Hell, I'll admit. Sometimes you have to take risks. Sometimes you have to push the envelope. Why does horror have to be so narrowly defined? It doesn't."

This is the End 3D will be located behind The Mummy building, but there's a little tweak to things as they have to reorient the facade to accommodate Franco's post-apocalyptic home. The maze it self will not just incorporate the typical 3D effects as Murdy hinted at other elements being used to get the feeling across as well. Oh, and yes, the rapture finale in the movie? That will be featured in the maze as well. If you get to heaven or not, that's another matter entirely.

And there ya have it, the low down on probably one of the more interesting, and likely confusing, experiences coming to this year's Halloween Horror Nights. I may not totally agree with this one, but it's gonna be a wilde ride to see how the team brings it together into an experience that's in line with the standards we expect from HHN.

Lots more to come as Haunt Season is quickly approaching, so stay tuned for all the latest from Halloween Horror Night as well as the rest of the haunts out there. And, if ya like, be sure to follow along with us on on Twitter, Google+, Tumblr, and even Facebook if you must, for all the latest!
