[Haunts] Ghoul Mansion Closes After 22 Years

Yep, just as the headline states, the yearly tradition of fear in Scarin', PA is no more. To say this news hit a little hard is an understatement as it was easily one of our favorite haunted attractions in the Western PA/Ohio area, if not of all time. What the cast and crew accomplished within the confines of that building, was truly great.

While I only got to check the place out recently, after 22 years, it's kind of shocking and a little confusing, but more on that in a minute.

Here's the statement from Ghoul Mansion regarding the shutdown;
Sharon, PA – Since 1994, DDC Partnership has been entertaining thousands of people every Halloween season at their haunted house, Ghoul Mansion in downtown Sharon, PA. For many from the community Ghoul Mansion was their first job experience and provided valuable experience in responsibility, punctuality and professionalism. While the decision was very difficult, DDC Partnership has decided to close Ghoul Mansion for the 2016 season to focus on other business opportunities. Jim Bugos, managing partner of DDC Partnership says, “We will miss the ‘kids’ and the community, but feel it is time for us to move on and focus on some of our other business ventures. We would like to thank the City of Sharon, especially the Sharon Fire Department and Sharon Police for their outstanding professional service over the past 22 plus years.”
And there you have it. The family and reputation that they built with the haunt was something on a whole other level and it's really sad to see the place go. Personally, I'm a bit mystified at why it's closing exactly, it didn't seem like anything was overly wrong there, but one never does know. I just hope that everyone that's been involved realizes just how amazing the show they created for 22 years really was.

However, it's not all doom and gloom here, there's a new brand of fear brewing it seems. Yes, that's right, the minds behind Ghoul Mansion aren't going peacefully into the night, they have another nightmare fuel train coming...The exFearience at Eastwood Field.

Not exactly in PA anymore, but at least it's only a somewhat short drive into Ohio to get your scare on. Not a lot is known about this new attraction, or just what it'll entail, but you can be sure that we'll be following along with the developments and hopefully getting there during Haunt Tour 2016!

So, one chapter closes, another opens.
