[Haunts] Universal Orlando Announces The Exorcist for Halloween Horror Nights Orlando and Hollywood

It's still early in the year, but Universal Orlando isn't taking the foot off the gas and has announced, that for the first time ever, The Exorcist will be featured for Halloween Horror Nights. It's definitely an interesting choice, and I know that seeing the news even made me scratch my head a bit. I mean, this is a movie that mostly takes place within a single room of a house...how is that going to work?!

Well, thankfully the folks at Universal have come up with a few answers to that one. So, for that, let's take a look at some of the thought process that went behind this one and possibly some clues as to just what we'll experience this fall.
"The answer we landed on was first to break down and assess all the visuals and moments from the film. Piece together every moment within that bedroom and examine why it was intense, scary or even vile. What textures can we reconstruct differently, sometimes in an incredibly abstract way?
The famous “pea soup” scene for instance. What if we were surrounded in the materials of the retch-covered bed? What if those layers of mattress padding literally enveloped us? And let’s be honest, traversing through a vomit-covered bed is pretty horrifying and disgusting by itself. Now add a possessed girl into the mix!"
Okay, so that can work. It's sort of a weird abstract reduction of the movie and taking things apart and rearranging them into some kind of bizarre mix of things. I can get behind that fully. I've always said that Universal is best when they're adapting movies into unique and interesting experiences and this sounds like they're still continuing on that path. It's extremely welcome to see and definitely looking forward to checking out how this one plays out.

UPDATE: The Exorcist will also be featured at Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Hollywood Studios as well! More details on that coming from Creative Director, John Murdy. Stay tuned!

Not much else is known on this one, but if I get any more updates, I'll be sure to let you all know. So, until next time, check out the trailer below and be sure to keep it here for all the latest from Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights 26 and haunts all over the country!
