[HT2015] Haunt Tour 2015 Awards!

Well, this one has been a long time coming and just now are we finally able to put out what we think were the best of the best from the 2015 Haunt Tour! As always, it's a long and arduous process to pair things down, and in spite of last year's list being short, the competition was still extremely tough in a few categories.

Some upheavel happened with this year's rankings and with a newcomer finding their way into the mix, that shook up what was thought to be impossible to top. Yet, it still happened. Funny how that works, isn't it?

You'll also notice that a couple of awards are different than last year, or missing, and that's because we just didn't hit any hayrides this year. I know, kind of weird on that front but weather and other things just got in the way. Hopefully 2016 will remedy that one. I had also hoped to add in a haunted trail category, but with only one on the list? Seemed a bit unfair to do.

Now then, first thing's first.

- Best Theme Park Haunt -
Halloween Haunt at Dorney Park

This was tough. All of the theme parks that we visited this year had some really great offerings and really strong points. They also had their weak points as well, just like any other show. However, the entire package that Dorney Park puts together is just too hard to pass up on.

The combination of amazing food, scares, pushing the limits in new areas, the sheer quantity of attractions, and just the amazing work and creativity of the cast and crew made this one a no-brainer. Not to mention, having the famed Trick or Treat house on property for 2015? Just awesome!

- Best Theatrical Haunt -
Castle Blood

Back once again, for the 3rd year in a row, Castle Blood just can't seem to be beaten when it comes to the theatrics and levels of participation that's expected. So, it's no real surprise but that they find themselves the winners of this again after the 2015 tour. If you haven't been, you really need to experience this one if you're looking looking for something different for Halloween.

- Best Interactive Haunt -
Wells Township Haunted House

Relative newcomer, at least to myself and Carrie, it's just no question to say that Wells Township Haunted House is hands down the best interactive attraction around at the moment. There's just so much going on in here and you're thrown right into the middle of it. While it's not so much the actors that get ya, it's the scenes themselves. These things are living, breathing, bits of mad genius and you'll never find them anywhere else.

- Best Scare Actors -
Hundred Acres Manor

No surprise on this one at all, the actors at Hundred Acres Manor are top notch and really are in it for the love of the scare. There's so much happening, and for the amount of time that this place is open during the seaon? It's a real grind. However, no matter when you go, they're on it. Even if the cast is light due to it being a week night, you still get an A+ show. That's dedication right there folks.

And now, for the big one.

- Best Overall Haunt -
Wells Township Haunted House

It was amazingly hard to figure this one out between Hundred Acres and Wells Township, but there was just enough to push the latter over the top for us. We had the most deliciously evil time at Wells Township Haunted House during our visit. Tt was like being in a funhouse on acid and every minute was just crazier than the next. They just had so much going on and so many completely off the wall ways to scare people that they ultimately squeaked out with the win in our minds.

It's really rare for a first visit haunt like this to win, but our hats go off to the entire cast and team at Wells Township, you guys owned it this year!

- Nightmare Fuel Award -
Unclaimed

Last, but certainly not least, the Nightmare Fuel Award. Which goes to....no one. Yep, that's right. Another blank year for this one, but I'm sure someone out there surely will be able to claim it in 2016, right? I mean, our 5th year of scouring the East Coast has to bring something up, doesn't it?

That wraps things up, and while +Carrie H.C. and I are already busy planning Haunt Tour 2016, which is our 5th anniversary of the mayhem so get ready for some real insanity!
