[Halloween Haunt] Canada's Wonderland Unleashes 3 New Mazes for 2013!

Well, this year's Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland looks to be completely insane and is by far one of the larger of the Cedar Fair parks that I've seen so far. They've gone and added in three all new mazes for the 2013 event as well as bringing back several favorites from previous years. That brings the total up to 10 mazes, 4 scare zones and they weren't done there either. They've added in an all new show as part of things too!

Definitely looks like a big year for haunts fans north of the border with this one. Some really original ideas and definitely a couple of unexpected developments in and around Wonder Mountain as well. This year's event runs on select nights from October 4th through October 27th.

So, without much further ado, here's what's new and returning for this year's Halloween Haunt. Warning, this one's a bit long...so let's start off with the first new show of the year. The rest will be below the break for those who didn't get here directly...

Mysterion the Mind Reader

Watch the dramatic psychic power of this master mentalist read the minds of the most unsuspecting mortals.

This one joins Halloween Haunt along with shows from previous years, Skeleton Crew and The Underworld.

Always good to see new shows and other such events showing up for haunts in big theme parks. They certainly have the budget and it's a good way to unwind between rides and scares as well. Also nice for those in a group who may not be up for the intensity of everything else that's going on...

Now, onto the rest of the new stuff for this year's event!

New: The Sci-Fi House

The Wilson family lives in a perfect home on a quiet cul-de-sac; or so they think. Every night when the neighbourhood street lights turn on, the Wilson home goes to a deadly dark place. Deranged aliens and venomous creatures inflict bloody torture on any house guest.

Run, don’t walk from Sci-Fi House.

Okay, so the name isn't original at all here but the concept definitely seems sound...mostly. Though, it would've been better if they went with "The Burbs" (I can't be the only one that remembers that movie, right?) since it seems pretty close...well "The Burbs" meets "House" perhaps, but either way this one should prove to be quite the interesting experience if their description is anything to go on.

New: The Ruins

In early 19th century, archeologist Dr. Carver led his team into ancient ruins on what turned out to be a deadly mission. Evidence of massacre and evil creatures lurking in the shadows is all that waits for new victims.

Trek into Wonder Mountain and travel along the once taken bloodied path and hope to get out alive.

Wait, inside Wonder Mountain? Now that's gonna be interesting, but I guess with the recent rumors about a new ride going in and possibly Thunder Run coming out would make this a pretty sweet location right about now. Toss that in with the fact that there used to be a walk through attraction in there and you're pretty much set. Definitely going to be curious how they pull this one off around everything else....

New: Louisiana Scream

Deep inside Wonder Mountain reside the residents of a Louisiana bayou. They have long been warned not to venture too far from the water’s edge. Beyond the opulent river mansions is a mysterious, twisted world where curses are whispered in the dark and no one ever makes it back to shore. Those who go too far are soon driven mad with fear and bloodlust so be cautious – there’s no telling what you could wake in the Bayou.

Hold up now...two attractions inside the mountain? Just how are they going to do that?! I mean the thing is pretty big, but that seems a bit ambitious if you ask me. Though, I guess with the walk through and the likely shutting down of Thunder Run before the event...this does make room for both to exist more than likely. Now they've definitely peaked my interest....

So, there's everything new for this year's event. What's returning? Look no further as we've got ya covered there as well!

Returning: Clowns at Midnight

The 1937 big top fire doomed the circus performers to a slow and agonizing death. Now every night, the clowns and circus freaks continue their demented performance, looking for fresh blood to avenge their suffering.

Returning: Club Blood

At the hottest new nightclub in town, they line up to get in, but no one makes it out alive. Because inside this devilish dance hall, vampires staff the bar and the DJ booth in an effort to lure the most edible into their isolated lair. The most delicious dancers are invited to the VIP lounge, where away from the throbbing heartbeat of the music, the vampires slowly suck the life from their victims.

Returning: Cornstalkers

The fields of the VanTassel farmstead are overgrown with two centuries of colonial debris and rotting corn. Monster scarecrows now consider this their home, attacking anyone who dares enter their fields with their razor-sharp beaks and terrifying shrieks of madness.

Returning: Mother Noose

When the Brothers Grimm set out to tell stories from the countryside, they never imagined the dark horrors and unhappy endings they would encounter. Tales of massacre, evil creatures and ferocious beasts are not the fairy tales we grew up with. Mother Noose recreates these haunted stories for anyone brave enough to see just how dark the dark ages really were.

Returning: Streets of the Undead

A mind-altering virus has taken over the population; the city now ruled by mindless zombies. Survivors hide in the darkness and wait for a cure that may never come. Hope is dead, like the souls of the city dwellers that now hunt in the Streets of the Undead.

Returning: Terror of London

Back for 2013!  It’s 1888 and the Jack the Ripper murders have terrorized the city of London. The discovery of the five unrecognizable bloody victims has paralyzed the residents of Whitechapel District with fear. With no hope of catching this culprit, every person you pass on the street is a potential attacker or victim.

Returning: The Aslyum

In 1923, Miles Gravestone was admitted to the asylum after surviving Slaughter Mill. Driven mad by his memories of the carnage and outraged that no one believed his story, Miles led the inmates of the asylum in a violent revolt. Taking his fury out on the doctors and nurses, he leaves them just as deranged and bloodthirsty as the patients.

So, that makes 10. While many are coming back it's nice to see that they've brought in some new material to work with as well for these. However, the same can't be said for the scare-zones. Once again there will be 4 of them and if you've attended in the past, they'll definitely seem familiar...

Returning; Carnevil

Mayhem takes over the streets where the freak show is the main event and clowns crave your undying attention.

(More with the clowns, but they're out in the open so could be better than inside? I dunno...so sick of clowns though.)

Returning: Ghostly Pines

The villagers who once peacefully inhabited the forest are dead and now live among the pines terrorizing any mortal who dares to enter these woods.

Returning: Steampunk

The neo-Victorian steampunk movement is rising and the war is now on the Rebel’s doorstep. No one is safe as the Rebels take up arms and fight for their freedom.

(Again, not really original with this one in the name, but could be cool if pulled off right)

Returning: Toys

Killer toys come to life looking for anyone who dares to be their playmate.

(Yeah, again with the originality here...but there is something about dolls and toys that really freaks people out for some reason. Too bad it's not a house like last year's Halloween Haunt at Kings Dominion)

So, there ya have it. Everything coming to this year's Halloween Haunt at Canada's Wonderland. It really does look like a pretty good line up with some muchly needed new additions to the line up for this year. I'm not really sure that we'll be getting up there to check it out this year as we already made a trip earlier in the season with InSanity lurks Inside for +Carrie H.C.'s park review...but I guess you never know, it could happen?
