[HHN23] Resident Evil Set to Infect Universal Orlando for this Year's Halloween Horror Nights!

Yep, this one was definitely hard to not to guess at due to the earlier leak from some savvy Publix shoppers. So, it's really just a matter of formality at this point, right? Yes and no on that one...

So while we all pretty much knew that this was coming (some for quite a long time now), there's a ton of info about this one that we've gotten our hands on to share with you tonight!

Not only is this yet another video game/movie property that the creative team headed by Mike Aiello has brought to Universal Orlando, but it's probably one of the largest out there. Yes, Silent Hill is big, but it's no match for Resident Evil (aka Biohazard) in the world of horror video games. We can debate the quality of the two movie franchises til the cows come home, but we're not here to do that.

Let's get on with it then! To no one's surprise...Resident Evil unveiled for Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando!

YOU will enter Raccoon City and attempt to escape the horrors contained within…if you can.

Now no one can say any of you that guessed it early were wrong. There's just no way around it and whoever put that display out at Publix is likely to have a stern talking to.

More info and the video teaser for this insane looking maze below!

Can't wait to see the treatment this gets at Universal Orlando. The attraction that was put on for Universal Studios Tokyo was insane and really wanted to see it come here as well...now we get a new different experience that's sure to cause rejoicing...and screaming. Much with the screaming.
According to Mike Aiello, the maze is going to be based off of the second and third games in the franchise. Additionally, he let it be known that,
"If you want a preview of the facade search the first stage of Resident Evil 2... Arukas!"
For those unfamiliar, here's a look at what we're talking about with the facade...

Inside the maze we can even expect a few strange things to be going on as well, like what? Well Aiello had a little info there too:
"Yes we thought it would be cool visually to feature one room in a PAUSED state..We also recreated the exterior of the RPD station. This will play home to a battle with Nemesis!"
I'm not exactly sure how the whole paused room is going to work out, but it could be really interesting as a bit of a breather, but I fully expect something horrible to come right after it. Why else would you give people a break like that? As far as the RPD station and the Nemesis? That's just insanely awesome to hear news on!

UPDATE 9/8/13: Added in the picture to the right showing the RPD Station. That's the kind of detail we're looking at...and that's not even the facade of the maze!
“Resident Evil is a perfect final addition to Halloween Horror Nights 23,” said Michael Aiello, Creative Director for Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights. “We were able to create incredibly elaborate sets that plant you right in the midst of Raccoon City’s apocalyptic nightmare, along with terrifying adversaries that will send them running.”
UPDATE 9/8/13: More pictures of what the maze will look like and they really paying attention to details from the game here. I mean you can hope that they would, but wow.

This one is shaping up to be one helluvan addition to the event this year and it's only fitting that this is a break away from tradition. I mean what else would you want as the over top 8th maze for the event, eh?

UPDATE: More information has come about as far as just what to expect from this year's Resident Evil maze!
For Resident Evil, Universal’s Entertainment team collaborated with the video game creators at Capcom to create a horrifyingly authentic haunted house based on some of the popular video games from the Resident Evil series. Guests will become desperate survivors inside the viral catastrophe, Raccoon City. As they journey through the city, they’ll encounter vicious characters from the games such as Lickers, bloodthirsty zombies, packs of Cerberuses and even Nemesis himself. Fans will be completely transported inside the video game realm – to the extent that one room in the haunted house will appear as if an action-packed fight scene is paused, as if the gamer has taken a quick break before returning to the horror of Raccoon City.
That's not all though, we've got word from Resident Evil 6 producer, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi,
“It’s such a great delight to work with Universal on a haunted house based on the Resident Evil games,” said Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Producer of Resident Evil 6. “The games have become synonymous with survival horror and we look forward to delivering a new way for consumers to experience the Resident Evil world we have created in the haunted house at Halloween Horror Nights."
More info coming soon so stay tuned for updates right here!

UPDATE 9/8/13: One last thing...some video of inside the maze as it stands right now! This one really does look incredible....
